A Japanese advertising executive has three weeks to leave Ireland following yesterday's High Court dismissal of his challenge to the refusal by an immigration official to let him land at Dublin Airport early last year.
Mr Justice Murphy said Mr Naomitsu Kanaya had come from Frankfurt to Dublin on January 13th, 1999 with an Irish citizen who had business connections with Mr Kanaya's father. The Irish citizen offered to accommodate Mr Kanaya for three months while he attended an English course.
The judge said he preferred the evidence of an immigration officer at Dublin airport who claimed Mr Kanaya had said he was looking for a school.
