Tokyo - Fifteen Japanese nuclear facilities fail to meet legal health and safety standards, according to a government report made public yesterday.
The report deals a fresh blow to an industry already reeling from the country's worst nuclear accident, which struck a reprocessing plant in Tokaimura on September 30th.
In the wake of that uncontrolled chain reaction, Labour Ministry officials inspected 17 facilities, other than reactors, that handle fissile materials. All but two had inadequate safety measures.
