The veteran jazz tenor saxophonist, Spike Robinson (right), is a familiar face here, but this hasn't diminished the charm of either the man or his music. Basically a gifted melodist of the school of jazz tenor that grew out of Lester Young's style, he belongs with players such as Zoot Sims, Stan Getz, Herbie Steward, Al Cohn and Allen Eager - in fact, his style would have fitted perfectly into the celebrated Woody Herman Four Brothers band with the first-named three. In terms of talent he also belongs with the best of that school, as anyone who sees him during his brief Irish tour next week, which includes Limerick, Dublin and Armagh, should discover.
