Jimeoin

WHENEVER I see a comic reach for a guitar I reach for my gun and try to beat him to the draw

WHENEVER I see a comic reach for a guitar I reach for my gun and try to beat him to the draw. To be fair to Coleraine comic Jimeoin, his musical enhanced meanderings were, few, and far between - but it's just the principle of it. Outside the six string it's not difficult to see why Jimeoin is nothing short of a comic got a very personable, chatty stage manner and he brings an intimate feel even to the largest venues. Moreover, his material is all encompassing, steering clear of the usual ghetto areas and specific cultural reference points of most of his peers. Ironically though, this is not altogether a good thing.

Jimeoin trades in classic observational material, and relentlessly so. While there is no doubting the skill and, craft that goes into his material. It errs a bit too much on the "have you ever noticed the wayside. On the plus side his subjects (cars, watches, drawers) are original, on the minus side there's an almost formulaic like aspect to his routine. There's nothing in the comedy rule book that says you must bring a degree of penetration and depth to your material but than the best comics don't go by the book.
