The first two jockeys in Britain to fail random breath tests for alcohol were cautioned by the sport's disciplinary body today.
Keith Dalgleish and Joe Fanning were tested before meetings at Redcar in north-east England in September and November 2003.
Both men had alcohol levels above 54 milligrams per 100 millilitres of urine, but below Britain's drink-driving limit of 108 milligrams per 100 millilitres, the Jockey Club said.
A figure above the drink-drive limit would have prompted a one-month suspension. In all, 383 breath tests have been carried out since random testing was introduced in Britain last July. Only Fanning and Dalgleish have tested positive.
