The British and Irish governments are to fund a 1798 commemoration scholarship, it was announced yesterday. The scholarship will look at the influence of the United Irishmen on Britain and the nature of the relationship between the two countries, said Ms Avril Doyle, chairwoman of the 1798 Commemoration Committee.
