Triple Olympic champion Marion Jones today called for a public hearing into reports that she may have committed a doping violation.

Jones has received a letter from the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) seeking more information after a meeting with USADA lawyers and her attorneys following the investigation into the BALCO laboratory in California.

In a statement prepared for delivery to a news conference at 6pm (Irish time) Jones said she was not going to engage in a "secret kangaroo court".

"I will answer questions in a public forum that will be open for the entire world to see, hear and evaluate. I will answer all the questions USADA is asking of me for the third time.
