American Roy Jones will defend his world boxing heavyweight title against former world champion Evander Holyfield in October, according to promoter Murad Muhammad.
Muhammad was quoted in the San Juan press as saying the fight would take place on October 4th and carry a purse of 15 million dollars for Jones.
Jones made history in March when he beat John Ruiz to become the first former middleweight champion in more than a century to win the heavyweight title.
According to Muhammad, the ideal plan would be to face Holyfield this year, then Mike Tyson at the beginning of next year and finally Lennox Lewis in at the end of 2004.
