The owner of the Silverstone-based team added that he believes he has captured one of the world's top three drivers in Italian Giancarlo Fisichella.

Fisichella, 29, spent three seasons with Jordan from 1997-1999 and has re-joined the team for 2002 after switching from Benetton-Renault.

Eddie Jordan promised to provide the equipment to allow the Rome-born driver to fulfil his potential.

"In terms of driver form, I believe he is in the top three in the world. We are delighted to have him racing for Jordan and we need to give him the equipment to prove himself.

"He is at the top of the drivers' league and we need to give him encouragement. Hopefully he will respond to that."

Fisichella has scored five second place finishes in his career, but has yet to add the elusive victory to his list of achievements.
