Public figures in Northern Ireland on Queen Elizabeth's birthday honours list included the former lord mayor of Belfast, Mr Nigel Dodds of the Democratic Unionist Party, the BBC journalist Denis Murray and six RUC officers. Mr Dodds was awarded the OBE for services to local government. Mr Murray was awarded the OBE for service to broadcasting and journalist Barry White of the Belfast Telegraph received the MBE. Among the police recipients were Assistant Chief Constable Freddie Hall, commander of the RUC's south region, who received the OBE.
