A judge today adjourned the case of a college lecturer charged with possession of child pornography pending a decision on whether the case was too serious to be dealt with in the Dublin District Court.

Mr Donal Storey (48), with an address at Marino Green, Dublin, is charged with possessing 12 images on his home computer on May 27th 2002. He was arrested as part of Operation Amethyst.

Judge Miriam Malone asked to see print-outs of the images involved to allow her decide whether the case should be dealt with in a higher court.

After viewing nine of the images over lunch, she asked for the three others to decide the jurisdiction.

After she was told it would take time to get the other images, Judge Malone adjourned the case to January 31st.
