Judge Gillian Hussey said she was "beginning to take this personally" when she discovered that a youth she had sentenced was out on the streets committing more crime.
She made the comment in Kilmainham District Court yesterday during the case of Aaron Hoey (18), of Harelawn Green, Clondalkin, who pleaded guilty to assaulting a tourist, stealing from his rucksack, and possession of a syringe on the Celbridge bus on September 28th.
Judge Hussey had been reminded that she gave Hoey a 16 month sentence on June 9th.
"What's the point of my making an order? Every order I make is being totally and utterly ignored," she said.
The judge ordered that the defendant should be taken back into detention. She said she was taking these charges into consideration with the 16 month sentence he was already supposed to be serving.
