Circuit Court Judge Miriam Reynolds has died following an illness.

She was appointed a Circuit Court judge in November 2002 after serving as the chairwoman of the Irish Women Lawyers Association, honorary secretary of the Bar Council and the state prosecutor for Co Donegal.

Educated at the Louis Convent in Monaghan town, she studied law at UCD and King's Inns, and was called to the Bar in 1981.

English-born Ms Justice Reynolds, who was 52, was married to Frank Buckley and had two sons, Darragh and Cillian.

Her removal will take place on Monday from her home to the Church of St.Thérèse in Mount Merrion, arriving at 5pm.

Her funeral mass will take place in the Church at 10am on Tuesday.
