Trying to convince people living in country areas of the gravity of driving without insurance was like hitting his head off a wall, a district justice said yesterday.
The remark was made by Judge Flann Brennan at Dundalk District Court yesterday when he convicted Martin McDonagh, of Coes Road, for driving without insurance. He was fined £150 and disqualified for 10 years.
Garda Vincent Dowling told the court he stopped the defendant at Marshes Upper, Dundalk, on October 2nd, 1995. He has previous convictions, including one for driving without insurance. The defendant said he would never drive again but the judge replied that he had heard that before.
