The jury in the trial of a community garda accused of assaulting three protesters at the Reclaim the Streets demonstration in May 2002, was discharged by Judge Yvonne Murray following legal argument.

A new jury will be sworn in tomorrow and the trial will recommence before the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Garda Donal Corcoran, who is attached to Mountjoy Garda Station in Dublin, has pleaded not guilty to three counts of assault causing harm, to Oisín Breen, Butterfield Park, Rathfarnham, Katie Crean, New Cabra Road, Dublin 7 and Brian Hayden, Knockmore Grove, Tallaght on May 6, 2002 during a demonstration on Dame Street in the city.
