A jury sworn in to hear the case of three defendants accused of murdering a Limerick man was discharged yesterday for legal reasons.

The jury was discharged by Mr Justice O'Sullivan after an hour of legal argument in the Central Criminal Court.

Mr William Roche (23), of Millstream, Killaloe, Co Clare; Mr Michael Sage (25), of Glenacre, Co Tipperary; and Ms Deirdre Rose (20), of Clarisford, Killaloe, Co Clare, had all pleaded not guilty to the charge of murdering Mr John Carroll on December 4th, 1998, at Garraun, Ballinahinch, Newport, Co Tipperary.
