The jury in the trial of a Dublin man accused of sexually assaulting two young girls have been sent to a hotel for the night after failing to reach a verdict.

The 45-year-old accused has pleaded not guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to twelve counts of sexual assault against both girls, one when she was aged between 10 and 14 and her friend when she was aged between nine and 11.

He also denies threatening to kill or cause serious harm to one of them and to making the same threats about their mothers.

The jury has been deliberating for more than three hours.
