The jury of six women and five men failed to reach a verdict on any of the three counts before them after deliberating for just over three and a half hours and was sent away shortly before 6 p.m.

Daniel O'Toole (37), of Cashel Avenue, Crumlin, Dublin has denied the charge that he murdered Sergeant Andrew Callanan who was acting in the course of his duties at Tallaght Garda Station on July 21st, 1999.

The jury is set to resume its deliberations at 11 a.m. tomorrow.
