The jury in the trial of an Irishman charged with importing £40 million worth of cocaine into the State retired last night after four hours and will resume considering evidence today at Cork Circuit Criminal Court.

Mr John O'Toole (52) has denied five charges relating to the discovery of £40 million worth of cocaine in Kinsale last September. Customs officers found over 300 packets of cocaine hidden on board a catamaran after Mr O'Toole, who is from Enniskerry, Co Wicklow, sailed the vessel with two others from Panama. Mr O'Toole claimed he sailed the boat after being threatened he would be killed.
