A 24-year-old Welsh man will have completed a 900-mile kayak trip to raise money for leukaemia research when he arrives at O'Connell Bridge in Dublin on Friday.
Mr Simon Osborne from Holyhead made the trip in memory of his older brother, Mark, who died of leukaemia in 1989 at the age of 13. His trip has taken him around the whole coastline of Ireland. He began this epic journey about seven weeks ago, when he made the 18-hour trip across the Irish Sea from Holyhead.
This is not Mr Osborne's first challenge to raise money for leukaemia research. He successfully circumnavigated the British Isles in 2002, which took three months and raised £20,000 for charity.
"Losing my brother has given me a huge amount of motivation," he said.
"I promised myself that I would do all I could to raise as much money for leukaemia research. I only have to think about what he went through to put the size of my challenge into perspective," he added.
