Former Republic of Ireland captain Roy Keane will make his much anticipated return from injury and suspension tonight when he lines out for Manchester United's reserves against Newcastle at Old Trafford.
Keane has been sidelined since undergoing hip surgery on September 3rd. He had two bones in his hip that rubbed together and caused considerable discomfort.
The 31-year-old's comeback was then subsequently delayed when he was found guilty on two FA charges of bringing the game into disrepute for comments made about Alfie Haaland. He has served a five match ban.
Keane, who is back in full training, will line out tonight in midfield alongside youngsters Kieran Richardson, Michael Stewart and Luke Chadwick.
Manager Alex Ferguson could name Keane as a substitute for the Premiership game at Blackburn on Sunday if he comes through tonight's match unscathed.
Manchester United (R):Ricardo; Rankin, Roche, Lynch, Pugh; Chadwick, Keane, Stewart, Richardson; Nardiello, Davis. Subs: Jowsey, Fletcher, Muirhead, Taylor, M Williams.
