Golf:After struggling with his swing in the weather-interrupted first round, Niall Kearney produced a flawless display of golf when the European Tour's qualifying school resumed in Girona today.

The Dubliner could only manage to card a 76 when he completed his first round on the Stadium Course yesterday but turned things around this morning as he came home in 65 on the Tour Course to reach one under par.

He was joined on that mark by Simon Thornton, who shot a 69 on the Tour Course, with both players well-placed to challenge for their cards. Just the top 30 and ties earn their playing rights for next season and, after two rounds of this gruelling six-round marathon, Kearney and Thornton share 43rd.

Damien Mooney and Colm Moriarty complete the Irish challenge at the PGA Catalunya in Spain and are two further back on one over.
