Racing: Following further examination of X-ray results, it has emerged that Shane Kelly has suffered three breaks to his femur rather than the four originally diagnosed.
The 27-year-old rider was unseated from his mount at Bath yesterday, and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for detailed assessment.
Kelly had initially expected to be operated on either today or tomorrow, but it now looks likely he will have to wait until Friday.
"The orthopaedic surgeon had another look at the X-ray scan this morning and there are three breaks, not four," explained agent Richard Turner. "Obviously that is better news than four but far from right and they are now expecting to operate on Friday.
"As far as I'm aware, they are awaiting the right surgeon for the operation," he said.
