Republic of Ireland winger Mark Kennedy has been reassured by a German specialist that his recent hamstring injury will not keep him sidelined for too long.

Kennedy says he had been told by Munich-based doctor Muller Wolfhart, the specialist who treated Michael Owen, that he can keep playing despite the injury picked up two weeks ago.

"Muller told me that all I needed was a few days rest and that I can resume training later in the week," he told the Daily Star. "That cleared my mind and that's great."

Kennedy hopes to return to First Division action with Wolves for their clash against Barnsley next week.
