GAA:Joe Kernan has ruled out a return to the Armagh manager's hot-seat because of work commitments and the potential for conflicts of interest with four of his sons on the senior panel.

The Orchard County is still searching for a new manager after Peter McDonnell quit the post. However Kernan, who led Armagh to All-Ireland glory in 2002, believes now is not the right time to return.

"In one way, I'd love to go back but I'm just involved with a business project and I'm putting all my energies into that," said the Crossmaglen legend.

"But whoever gets the job, there's a great bunch of young lads there. They're young and enthusiastic and certainly he (the new manager) won't be going in starting from scratch."

Kernan and his two business partners recently set up a new “Sportstat” company that monitors players in training, while his sons Stephen, Aaron, Tony and Paul are running his estate agency. Kernan hopes to sell the new Sportstat kit to GAA, soccer and rugby squads in the future.

"I'm going to look after my business. We've got a lot of very big contracts and I think it's time for me to look after myself," added Kernan.

"I was very lucky to work with my club and my county. I do believe that with all the young boys who are there, we have a good future. But at this minute in time, I would have to say 'No'.”
