Brian Kerr is in Manchester this evening for talks with Roy Keane about a possible return to the international stage for the former Republic of Ireland captain.

Although no decision is expected this week, Kerr hopes to convince the 31-year-old to resume his Ireland career at the European Championship qualifiers in Georgia and Albania in seven weeks time.

It is believed Kerr will only ask the midfielder to play in competitive fixtures, given the Manchester United midfielder's concerns over his fitness, but the manager will be conscious he cannot be seen by the rest of the panel to make too many concessions to the Corkman.

It is hoped Keane, who will discuss the matter with family, Alex Ferguson and adviser Michael Kennedy, will give a firm decision on his future before next week's international game in Glasgow.
