A Kerry man who raped his two daughters in a cowshed on his farm has been jailed for seven years, two of them suspended, by Mr Justice Carney at the Central Criminal Court.
The judge was told the girls' mother had been aware of the abuse from a year after it started but had not asked for help.
The 37-year-old married man with four children pleaded guilty to a total of 64 offences of raping and sexually assaulting his two daughters between the years 1993 and 1997, with the final incident occurring last year.
The charges included 28 of rape, of which 18 were committed on his eldest daughter and 10 on his other daughter; 16 counts of buggery on the eldest daughter; and 20 counts of sexual assault, 12 on the eldest.
Sgt Pat Dooley told Mr John Edwards SC, prosecuting, that the man turned himself in to gardai on December 15th, 1997, and admitted the offences.
