Gaelic Games:Kerry footballer Séamus Scanlon has announced his retirement from intercounty football.

The 31-year-old midfielder from the Currow club played at every age group with his county and made his senior championship debut for the Kingdom with against Limerick in 2002.

Scanlon went on to win four All-Ireland winner’s medals and three National League title and was named an All Star in 2009.

In a statement, Kerry county committee chairman Patrick O'Sullivan thanked Scanlon “sincerely for all his hard work and years of commitment to Kerry at every age”.
