Defending National League champions Kerry will open their campaign away to beaten All-Ireland finalists Mayo following the announcement of next season's fixtures this afternoon.
The tie will pit new Kerry coach Pat O'Shea against the returning Mayo boss John O'Mahony in the stand-out fixture of the opening weekend in both football and hurling.
Mayo, having had the long winter months to reflect on their All-Ireland humiliation, will be desperate for a measure of revenge while Kerry will no doubt wish to inflict further punishment on O'Mahony's side.
Dublin and Tyrone, who met in this season's infamous 'Battle of Omagh', are set to make further headlines again next year by having the distinction of playing the first match under Croke Park's new floodlights.
Their clash is scheduled for the Saturday evening of February 3rd, just over a week before Ireland's historic meeting with France in the Six Nations, with Croke Park the likely venue for the match.
Reigning hurling champions Kilkenny travel to Dublin for their first test while Galway, with Ger Loughnane now in the hotseat, entertain Antrim.
All fixtures must now go to Central Council on December 9th for final approval.
