Kewell warned to sign or be sold

Leeds' Australian midfielder Harry Kewell has been warned he will be sold if he does not sign a new deal with the club.

Leeds' Australian midfielder Harry Kewell has been warned he will be sold if he does not sign a new deal with the club.

Chairman Peter Ridsdale will not allow Kewell, who has two years left on his current contract and is reportedly attracting interest from Inter Milan, to leave on a free transfer and will step up negotiations before the end of the year.

"He will not be allowed to leave on a Bosman transfer," said Ridsdale.

"I would think that the club will sit down with Harry some time before Christmas to discuss the possibility of him signing a new contract.

"I cannot comment on what his plans and ambitions are, but clearly we would have to look closely at his situation if a new long-term contract couldn't be agreed," Ridsdale told the Yorkshire Post.
