Police are investigating an armed robbery in which £100,000 was stolen and several people were taken hostage for nearly 18 hours on Friday night. Three masked and armed men forced their way into the home of a Securicor employee at Glengoland Gardens in west Belfast at around 10 p.m. and held his mother hostage. Over the next three hours, the Securicor man, his sister and his girlfriend arrived. All were tied up, gagged and held overnight.
On Saturday, the man was instructed to go to work as normal and collect a sum of money which was handed over to the kidnappers.
All the hostages were released unharmed.
