Racing:This evening's meeting at Killarney has been abandoned due to a waterlogged track after heavy rain swamped the track. The racecourse was hit by 20 millimetres of rain on last night, changing the ground to heavy, and further downpours forced officials to call off today's fixture. Having lost the first of what should be a four-day meeting, tomorrow's programme hinges on an 8.0am inspection.

If Thursday’s card gets the green light the feature race from today, the Listed Vincent O’Brien Ruby Stakes, will be run as the first race. Clerk of the course Val O’Connell said: “Unfortunately we had 20 millimetres of rain overnight and we had another eight or nine this morning, which has just put our track in trouble today.

“We’re going to have another inspection in the morning at eight o’clock and hopefully with a dry night we should be OK. The forecast is for it to clear up and have a couple of nice days. That would be good. With a favourable forecast hopefully we should be OK. The Stakes race has been rescheduled for tomorrow and we run with an eight-race card.”
