Swamp fever cases confirmed

Three more cases of equine infectious anaemia (EIA), also known as swamp fever, have been confirmed in two mares and a foal.

Tests have been conducted on more than 2,150 animals, with a total of five positive tests. EIA, which has not been found in Ireland before now, attacks the immune system and can be spread by horsefly or by contaminated medicine.
