World Cup:Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has suggested Ledley King is due to receive the results of a scan on his groin injury which could determine his World Cup future.

Injury-prone King lasted just 45 minutes of Saturday's Group C opener against the United States and had to be replaced at half-time by Jamie Carragher.

Having nursed centre-half King through his various fitness worries at White Hart Lane, Redknapp is well placed to assess the 29-year-old's current status and he fears for his club captain.

He said: "I spoke to our physio last night, Wayne Diesel. Wayne is out in South Africa, he's gone over there to be around the England camp.

"I don't think we'll see Ledley again if he's struggling to play.

"They are getting the result back from the scan today, but if there's a tear in the groin that would make it difficult for him.

"That's the problem for him, when you don't train and have to play at that top, top class level you're going to pick up injuries."
