Joe Kinnear says he has not given up hope of returning to Luton Town as manager.
The former Republic of Ireland international led the club to ninth place in the Second Division last season but was sacked after a consortium fronted by John Gurney took over.
But Gurney lost control on Monday when the club was placed in administrative receivership.
Kinnear admitted he was relieved by Gurney's departure, describing Luton's situation as "a complete shambles".
Kinnear was replaced by current manager Mike Newell following a telephone vote by supporters and shareholders, and while the ex-Wimbledon boss is keen to return to Kenilworth Road, he knows Newell will need to step aside first.
He said: "Obviously they've appointed a new manager so that will put me out of the situation with that, but it just depends on which consortium goes in and whether they would be interested in giving me the post again."
