Athletics: Kenyan-born Lornah Kiplagat, basking in her world record victory in the women's 20-km at the inaugural world road running championships, will decide soon whether to race in the New York Marathon on November 5th.
"It could not be any better and it gives me hope for the future," Kiplagat, told reporters at a post-race news conference after yesterday's victory.
The 32-year-old set a record time of one hour three minutes 21 seconds, finishing two seconds ahead of Romania's Constantina Tomescu.
Married to Dutchman Pieter Langerhorst, who is also her coach, the former Chicago and Osaka Marathon champion said: "Although I am on the list for the New York Marathon, my participation will depend on how soon I recover from this race."
She added: "Whatever follows after this will be a bonus because the year has been very hectic."
