The Government has introduced a code of practice for businesses on the dual display of goods and services in euros and pounds that begins today.
Retailers who subscribe to the code will be able to display a special logo as evidence of compliance with the changeover rules, Minister for Labour, Trade and Consumer Affairs Mr Tom Kitt said today.
"Dual display is the key to helping consumers and traders alike prepare for and become more confident in using the euro," Mr Kitt said.
The Minister said he was very pleased with the level of subscriptions to the code. He said the ultimate sanction for any trader who seeks to take advantage of the changeover would be loss of business.
Director of consumer affairs Ms Carmel Foley said: "These retailers have agreed to stand on their honour. They are putting their good name on the line".
