Dutch international striker Patrick Kluivert has signed for Newcastle United. He has put pen to paper on a three-year deal after being told by Barcelona in May he could leave the club despite having another year to run on his contract.
Newcastle manager Bobby Robson said: "I've known Patrick for many years...he's a player of immense experience and great stature. He's played for the top clubs in his career. I think he's got the best years of his career ahead of him."
Kluivert, who is expected to edge out Craig Bellamy as skipper Alan Shearer's strike partner, spent six years at Barcelona after joining from AC Milan.
The Dutchman was a product of the Ajax Amsterdam youth academy, scoring the winner as a teenager in their 1-0 Champions League final victory over Milan in 1995.
