The German had plenty to spare in the 150 kilometre race from Skiberreen to Killorglin. Eugene Moriarty and Raymond Clarke were the best placed of the Irish riders.

Paul Manning is the new overall leader while yesterday’s stage four winner, Mark Scanlon, remains in eighth place with fellow Irishman Paul Griffin one place further back.

Tomorrow, the riders will race from Skibbereen to Dungarvan passing through Cork City along the 164 kilometre route.
