New routes to Britain saw passenger numbers using Knock airport jump by 55 per cent to 158,391 in the first half of the year, the airport's management said today.

Passenger traffic figures released today show that Knock also enjoyed the busiest day in its history this year, with over 2,260 passengers using the airport on May 27th.

Knock airport's chief executive, Mr Liam Scollan, said the airport was now on track to achieve its target of 400,000 passengers for the year.

Three new daily routes to Liverpool, Manchester and Nottingham-East Midlands, were opened this year . The airport also announced it will operate skiing holidays from Knock to Andorra in Winter 2004.

Knock now offers seven daily scheduled flights to and from Dublin, Birmingham, London Stansted, Manchester, Nottingham East Midlands and Liverpool.
