Seoul - South Korea said yesterday it plans to open road and rail links with the Stalinist north next year, crossing one of the world's most heavily armed borders. Work is expected to begin next month.
A rusting locomotive has sat for nearly 50 years just south of the Demilitarised Zone. The railway, scheduled for completion by next September, would stretch from South Korea's capital, Seoul, to Shinuiju, on North Korea's northern border with China, the Construction Ministry said.
