The Labour Court is hearing exploratory talks in the Tesco pay dispute this evening.
According to Mandate, these are the first talks since May 14th. The union said while it was happy talks were taking place again, it had been talking to the company over the past year and there had been no significant progress on the issue.
Representatives from Mandate and SIPTU, who between them represent 9,500 Tesco workers throughout the country will attend the talks.
A Mandate spokesperson said a strike was still scheduled for later this week which will affect all of Tesco’s 75 outlets in the country. The strike is due to begin at midnight on Thursday and continue until midnight on Friday.
