The Labour Party is following up its "But, are you happy" poster campaign with a web-based ad hitting out directly at Fianna Fáil and the PDs.
In an ad on the ireland.comwebsite today, Labour is playing on the Fianna Fáil slogan from the last general election "A lot done, more to do".
The ad says "FF and the PDs tell you they have A Lot Done ... But".
The ad then refers internet users to the Labour Party's makeachange.ie website in which it outlines its five commitments for change promised for the next election. A Labour Party source said the ad will run for one day and the party has plans to roll out ads in a similar vein in the coming weeks.
The source accepted that it could be construed as "negative campaigning".
"We were very positive at our conference with the tax cuts and the commitments for change followed by the 'But, are you happy' poster campaign. Now we are changing direction.
"This is about us pointing out the reasons people are disaffected with the Government. The Government promised lots of things in the last election including a reduction in hospital waiting lists, smaller school sizes, more gardaí on the streets etc.
Labour would "keep this type of campaign going at particular points", he added.
