The Labour Party is planning a major celebration for its 100th anniversary in the town in which it was founded next month.
The party, the oldest in the State, was founded in Clonmel, Co Tipperary, by James Connolly, James Larkin and William O’Brien in 1912.
It will hold a weekend of celebrations on May 26th and 27th.
An exhibition will be held in South Tipperary County Museum in Clonmel, while on May 27th Labour leader Eamon Gilmore will unveil a plaque in the local town hall.

This ceremony will be followed by a meeting of the Labour parliamentary party.
The day will also feature an enactment of the original motion to establish the Labour Party in Ireland.
