The wife of disgraced British peer Lord Archer said today she supported her husband "wholeheartedly".
Speaking publicly for the first time sinceArcher was jailed for four years for perjury and perverting the course of justice, she refused to discuss her husband further but gave reporters an explanation of quantum solar energy, the subject of a summer school she was attending today at Strathclyde University.
She said: "I'm here as I said to lead this summer school and I won't be led into discussions about any other matter save to say this - I support my husband wholeheartedly.
"I think I have said what I wish to say".
The statement began with a jokey reference to the many reporters who had turned up in the hope of hearing her discuss her decision to stand by her husband.
She said: "Good morning and welcome to the University of Strathclyde - and a special welcome to those of you who are new to the field of quantum solar energy conversion".
Lady Archer's visit to Scotland put her back in the spotlight five days after she attended the funeral ofArcher's mother Lola Hayne in Cambridge.
