Mystery surrounds the identity of Ireland's latest Lotto millionaire following Saturday's win worth more than €6 million.
Lahinch in west Clare has been abuzz with speculation since it was confirmed that the weekend's jackpot of €6,158,375 was won locally.
The €4 Quick Pick ticket was bought on Friday afternoon at Kennedy’s Centra Foodmarket.
The shop's owner, Robert Kennedy, who has run shops in Lahinch since 2001, has never had a National Lottery jackpot winner before.
“When I heard first, I was shocked . . . We are all delighted for whoever won, but we have no idea who it was.
“We have a decent lotto trade here and had someone on the TV gameshow once but nothing major at all . . . We’ve never had any major winner. I think we had a five number winner, maybe twice,” he said.
“It could be absolutely anyone. We have a lot of visitors coming into the shop, it’s our main trade, so it could be someone just passing through or here for a few days,” Mr Kennedy added.
"I doubt we'll ever know who it is. They could be on a plane to Boston or someplace else already," he said.
