Dermot Laide, one of two young men convicted in relation to the death of a school leaver outside a Dublin nightclub five years ago, is due for release today.
Laide (23), from Rossvale, Castleblayney, Co Monaghan, was found guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court in February 2004 of manslaughter and violent disorder in relation to the unlawful killing of Brian Murphy outside Club Anabel on August 31, 2000.
His conviction for manslaughter was overturned by the Court of Criminal Appeal last February and a retrial was ordered. A date was set for April next year at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court
Laide has served 19 months of the two-year sentence he received for his conviction on violent disorder charges.
