Former West Ham manager Harry Redknapp said today he believed highly-rated midfielder Frank Lampard would soon leave the English premier league club.

Redknapp and assistant Frank Lampard Senior, the player's father, parted company from West Ham earlier this month in acrimonious circumstances.

Media reports have suggested a number of other English clubs covet the signature of former England under-21 captain Lampard and Redknapp told BBC Radio Five: "Frank's my nephew and they've got several clubs wanting him.

"I think Frank has decided he wants to play elsewhere now. His dad was my assistant and he was very unfairly dismissed in my opinion.

"They'll sell him for 10 million pounds, 12 million or 14 million. "This was the chairman's decision at the end of the day.

"They decided his father had to go and obviously his son is not happy with what's happened.

"I think he feelS he wants to go elsewhere and play and I'm sure young Frank will do that."

Lampard, 22, joined the club as a schoolboy and last year signed a five-year contract. -Reuters
