Troubled furniture retailer Land of Leather has announced it is to close 33 stores, including four shops in Ireland.
The Irish stores are based in Cork, Galway and Sligo. A shop in Coleraine in the North is also to shut down, administrators Deloitte said in a statement today.
Today's announcement comes just weeks after the retailer announced it was going into administration after sales declined and it failed to secure new financiing.
Speaking today, Deloitte administrator Lee Manning said the 33 stores concerned employed 95 staff in total with 22 people employed at Irish stores.
Mr Manning said administrators hoped that some of the affected staff could be relocated to other stores
"While we are making every effort to sell Land of Leather as a going concern, it is apparent that interested parties will not buy all of the 109 stores. Therefore, we have taken the decision to begin pre-closure inventory liquidation sales at 33 of the stores, said Mr Manning.
"We have begun discounting the stock in those stores with a view to winding down. However, we continue to talk to prospective buyers for the business, and all other stores remain open and available for purchase as a going concern," he added.
