Wales 22 Scotland 27
Scotland beat Wales 27-22 in an intense but error-strewn battle of the Six Nations also-rans on Saturday to finish above the hosts in fourth place.
In a close game that matched last year's 28-28 draw for drama, Wales led 9-0 with three early Stephen Jones penalties only for hooker Gordon Bulloch to burrow over for two tries to give the Scots a 15-9 halftime lead.
Wales hit back with a try by winger Rhys Williams and the lead then changed hands several times as Jones and Brendan Laney exchanged penalites.
The home crowd thought they had got it when Jones landed his fifth with a minute to go but there was still time for French referee Joel Jutge to give Laney another chance from in front of the posts.
He took it before limping out of the game. Replacement Duncan Hodge then added another penalty in injury time to underline the victory, the Scots' second of the championship following their win over Italy.
The match marked the farewell to international rugby of British Lions scrumhalf Rob Howley, after 59 Wales caps, while flyhalf Gregor Townsend became Scotland's most-capped player with 66.
